
2026 WCQ: Give more opportunities to home based players in Super Eagles – Fatai Amoo urges NFF

Former Nigerian International, Fatai Amoo, has called on football governing body in Nigeria to create more opportunities for the home based players to play for the senior national team. Said inviting them to the team is not matter but rather than to give them chances of playing.
The former assistant Super Eagles coach gives this recommendation while featuring on a yoruba sports programme on Diamond FM Nigeria, reacting to the recent 1 – 1 draw between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Warriors of Zimbabwe at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers match. He advised the players to be more focused and make use of their scoring chances very well. He therefore called on NFF to be more proactive in paying the players promptly without delay.
Reacting on the performances of the player under Eric Chelle, the former Nigeria midfielder said the new coach has performed beyond average as the supporters are still expecting more.
Recalled that the Super Eagles has played two matches under the new manager, Eric Chelle, where they won one away against Rwanda and a home draw against Zimbabwe respectively in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
After 7 matches, Super Eagles is currently in the 4th position with 7 points in Group C of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers
