A public affairs commentator and librarian in Ilorin, Comrade Joel Afolayan has expressed disagreement with the assertion of the former National Vice Chairman, North-West, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Salihu Lukman, that President Bola Tinubu is performing worse than his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari.

He disclosed this on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024 while featuring on Diamond FM magazine programme, diamond breakfast show. Afolayan emphasized the need to consider the changing dynamics, the volume of resources at the disposal of the executives, the method of emergence of leaders, and the current state of arms of government before drawing a conclusion.

In his words: “given all of these, the volume of resources at their disposal, can you now say that it is right to totally compare this administration or succeeding administration with previous administration now assuming or concluding that one is better than the other.” Afolayan said.

“I think we have to look critically into the volume of resources at their disposal, the method of their emergence as well as what is the state of other arm of government under their watch like the legislative arm, as well as the judicial arm of government. So these are the things we how to look at critically before we now go into sectoral analysis”, he added.

Speaking on the clash between the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, popularly known as the Shi’ite group, and the Nigerian Police force in Abuja, Comrade Afolayan urged the national supreme court for Islamic affairs and stakeholders in Islam to clarify their position on the activities of the Shi’ite group, stressing that the continued association of the Shi’ite group with Islam may lead to misconceptions about the group’s beliefs.

He further disclosed the need for the government to take more decisive action in safeguarding the lives and property of its personnel and officers.
He further said, “The stakeholders in Islam religion should come out and tell Nigerians whether this thing that this group is doing is in line with the provisions of the Islamic operation or they should be disassociated so that people will not see their activities which is negatively rubbing on the Islam religion.

“I think it is about the time the well meaning stakeholders and respected groups in the religion come out. So if you are for this group, let us know, If you’re not for this group let us know and the government should be serious in protecting the life and property of it’s men and officers”, he added.
