The Kwara State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has said the administration of Governor Abudulraman Abdulrasaq of the State lacks financial transparency.
The Party Treasurer, Hon. Gabriel Kannanjogun made the remarks while featuring as a guest on Diamond FM, Ilorin, Kwara State popular Yoruba Language News and Current Affairs programme, “E Bawa Dasi” on Tuesday, 7th January, 2025.
Kannanjogun maintained that the administration of Governor Abdulrasaq has failed to inform the Kwarans of the up-to-date financial status of the State.
He said government policies must anchor on transparency, accountability, integrity and rule of law.
“During the era of the PDP in Kwara State, we used to inform Kwarans about the financial status of the state, the amount of money we spent on projects and the state internal revenue”
“Tell me about a programme this administration is doing that tells Kwarans about our financial status”.
“When this administration borrowed N30 billion bond, we shouted about it and asked this administration the whereabouts of the N17 billion till date”.
The Party State Treasurer emphasized that building of fences around some shops in the Ilorin metropolis can cause environmental hazards.
“The fences were built without concrete pillars, they used blocks for everything, I checked the blocks and there were substandard, anything could happen to it”.
“I was the first person to raise alarm about Tanke Bridge, that they are using substandard materials, some people called on a live radio programme to insult me about it, but they can’t commission the Bridge till now”
“I called on civil engineering stakeholders to come down to Ilorin to come check the fences’.
“During our administration, we built the Mandate market and relocated traders to that place, we relocated the abattoir from Ipata to Akerebiata. This administration should have relocated traders to a new place instead of demolishing their sources of livelihood and turned them into beggars”.
“This is not about Ilorin people alone, we have people from other local governments in Kwara State having shops in those markets”.
“I must add that this administration of Governor Abudulraman Abdulrasaq built a fence from Unity to A “Division” but left Aromokeye pharmacy stores, is it because the person is influential?”
Kannanjogun maintained Kwarans have seen both administration of both the PDP and of the All Progressives Congress in the state and will take a decisive decision.
“People have seen what we did in the State during our administration and what Governor Abdulrasaq is doing now, they will make their choice soon”.
“PDP is ready to allow every candidate to go through the primary election, no imposition from anybody”.
