The government has been charged with prioritizing indigenous languages among citizens, particularly in the education sector, to build a sense of comradery among the various ethnic groups.
This was the position of Engineer Jacobs Omotayo, while featuring live on today’s Edition of the Diamond Breakfast Show- a flagship programme of Diamond88.7FM, Ilorin.
According to him, it is derogatory for our mother tongue to be called vernacular, adding that there is a need to go back to our languages for better development and equipment thus making learning easier.
“That even in the amazon forest of Brazil they have worn the most central language in San Paulo they are using theirs now why if you look at Nigeria we have 3 major and these spread across the length and breadth of Nigeria so we can try to adopt, the government can try to adopt now that they have stated this and it is in the national assembly let us see how they will be able to go with it.”
Engineer Omotayo in response to the discovered palliatives in kano state, condemned the nonchalant attitude of our political leaders to the citizens, stating that we have moved from a sustainable economy to a palliative economy without traces of improvements.
“It stems, it show of lack of care for the people and you know I don’t care attitude is showing in some people that are in place of authority we have this happening, it is always happening you know but usually this things are not reported you know sometimes people lose their cool and go into these warehouse to take them by force and I think people in government have not learnt their lessons.”
The public analyst urged the government to develop a master plan to curb corruption and promote our indigenous language in order to change the perspective of other countries towards Nigeria.
