Entrepreneur and reality TV star Kidd Waya, son of Nigerian billionaire Terry Waya, made a notable appearance on The Trend Central on October 18, where he opened up about his personal life, philanthropy, and the challenges of growing up in a wealthy family.
During the interview, Kidd expressed joy at returning to Nigeria after spending a year abroad. “It feels good to be back,” he said, noting that his last visit was in April for Obi Cubana’s 50th birthday. He also revealed that he had come home then to advance his charity projects, which include sponsoring 16 individuals from primary school to Ph.D. level and enrolling people in agricultural programs in his home state, Borno. Additionally, Kidd shared that he has covered hospital surgery bills for those in need.
When asked about his father, Kidd praised his dad’s accomplishments, explaining that Terry Waya built his fortune from the age of 19 and was the discoverer of Banana Island in Lagos. “I didn’t even know about it until others told me,” he admitted, explaining that his father rarely talks about his achievements. Kidd added that he hopes to one day create a documentary about his father’s life and success.
Reflecting on his privileged background, Kidd stated, “It’s not easy to be a rich man’s son. You’re constantly thinking about what to wear every day, and it can be overwhelming.”
He also revealed that he had once been a victim of robbery, losing about $50,000 in the incident. “It’s in the past,” he said, adding that he was grateful no lives were lost.
In a quick-fire segment, Kidd was asked about the most ridiculous thing he’s ever spent money on, to which he replied with a laugh that he once bought a girl a diamond gold dildo, calling it “crazy.”
When asked about something money can’t buy, Kidd responded, “My dad’s attention.” He also shared some of his fears, saying he is afraid of spiders and of not becoming the man he wants to be.
Despite his fame and wealth, Kidd emphasized that he values love over status, saying he would marry any woman, even if she isn’t rich. He ended the interview on a cheerful note, saying he looks forward to celebrating Christmas in Dubai with his family, as it’s a tradition they always uphold together.
