
Incumbent Chairman, Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Mallam Abdul-lateef Lanre Ahmed of Herald Newspapers Chapel has been re-elected for second term of 3 years.
Declaring the results of Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ election, Chairman 2024 NUJ Credentials Screening Committee, Mr Abdul-Hameed Funsho Alaiye said Mallam Lanre Ahmed polled 100 votes to defeat his sole challenger, Abdullahi Dare Akogun of Sobi FM who scored 51votes.
According to a release issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye Binta, Abubakar-Mora of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, Idofian was re-elected unopposed while Bushrah Yusuf-Badmus of Correspondents Chapel was elected unopposed.
Mahmood Olayinka Alaya of Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation, Radio Kwara Chapel clinched the position of Council Secretary with 93 votes fiercely beating Mansurah Amuda-Kannike of State Information Chapel, Ministry of Communications who garnered 57 votes.
Also, Madinah Olayinka-Yusuf of Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation, Radio won the office of State Financial Secretary with 93 votes against Abdulganiyu Yusuf Adebisi from information Chapel, Ministry of Communications who had 56 votes.
Office of the State Auditor was keenly contested with Lukman Oyedeji of Correspondents Chapel and Mashood Zarumi of Herald Newspapers both scored 74.
Meanwhile, bye election is expected to be conducted for the office State Auditor in a later date as the 2 candidates, Mashood Zarumi of Herald Newspapers and Lukman Oyedeji of Correspondents Chapel who both 74.
Gov Abdulrazaq congratulates NUJ chair, others on re-election, seeks improved relationship.
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq extends hearty congratulations to the newly elected state executive committee members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council.
The Governor specifically congratulates Mallam Abdul-lateef Lanre Ahmed on his re-election as the chairman to lead the Council for another three years.
He urges the newly elected state executive committee of the NUJ to extend hands of fellowship and support to every member of the council, including those who ran for the same offices in the recently held election.
The election was simply a friendly contest among brothers and sisters of the same fold and should be held as such while everyone works together as a unit, the Governor adds.
The Governor says the government looks forward to a more robust relationship with the media in the state, anchored on good ethics, mutual respect, and overall interest of the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq prays that Allaah grant the newly re-elected chairman and his team the strength and wisdom to do a lot more for the union and humanity.
