The kwara state government has expressed shock over the news of absence of functional science unit in Kwara State School for Special Needs, Ilorin.
The government through the Commissioner for education and human capital development- Haj. MODIBBO KAWU noted that it is totally unexpected and surprising, with an assurance to fix the anomaly in the school.
The Commissioner made the disclosure on Tuesday the 14th of November, 2023 while serving has a guest at an event organized by the Bloom Wellbeing Initiative with support of some Ph D Students of Guidance & Counseling, Alhikmah University, Ilorin.
“His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq obviously is running an inclusive Government. So for me to hear this today is shocking and I have immediately directed the Principal of the School to write the Ministry because we have to act on it. Our children should not be restricted to just the Art Class. We will do all that we can to ensure that they have options that they can choose from.” She said.
Haj. Kawu added that governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration has invested so much in the school and in running a holistic educational system in Kwara State with an assurance to stop at nothing in seeing that the state pupils and students gets the very best.
Students present at the event were grateful as the event was an eye opener, with hopes that they can achieve more despite their physical challenges:”

In her remarks, the founder Bloom Wellbeing Initiative- Islamiyyah Ibraheem appreciated her team of formidable individuals who she said are the secret behind the success of the programme.”
I am also a PHD Student of Al-Hikmah University and we wanted to have our career day, we were contemplating on where to have the career day, this is an opportunity for us to come together and have the program together in partner with Bloom Well-being Initiative. It was all the idea of Bloom Initiative. Started from Bloom Well-being we decided to come together. This is just the phase 1 of the event, I will say I have the best team because they are always one call away. I call them anytime. Sincerely speaking, I can say that when you have the best team, you have everything. Even when there is money and the team are not there, obviously I can’t do everything alone. So I have the best team. I must commend them for their efforts”, Islamiyyah added
The program tagged “Career Day for Students with Special Needs” also had in attendance lecturers, a legal practitioner and students of Kwara State School of Special Needs.
