The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Dauda Biu, has proposed jail terms for drivers responsible for road accidents.

Biu, made this proposition during a press conference in Abuja, stating that the Corps had advised state governments to prosecute drivers for violating road laws.

He made the proposition in response to recent crashes in Oyo, Kano, and Kaduna states earlier this month, resulting in multiple casualties.

The Marshal also stressed on the need for strict penalties, including jail terms without the option of fines, to warn reckless driving, stating that the FRSC was intensifying collaboration with the judiciary across the 36 states to quicken the trial of drivers involved in road accidents.
