
Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has authorized the appointment of Nimibofa Ayawei as Secretary to the State Government.
Diri also named Peter Akpe as the Chief of Staff. Akpe was the Deputy Chief of Staff and later appointed acting Chief of Staff in the governor’s first term in office.
The appointments were circulated in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Daniel Alabrah, in the state capital, Yenagoa, .
The statement added that Irorodamie Komonibo had been appointed as the new Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, while Alabrah retained his position as CPS.
Recall that before his appointment, Ayawei was the Executive Chairman of the Bayelsa State Board of Internal Revenue, a position he has occupied since 2016, a former Commissioner for Housing and Rural Development and had served as a lawmaker in the House of Assembly representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 4, among other positions within the state.
These are the first set of official appointments approved by the governor about 40 days after his second-term inauguration on February 14, 2024, and the appointed officials are to resume effective immediately.
