Ebira indigenes from the five local governments areas of Kogi Central have strongly endorsed the ongoing recall process against their representative in the National Assembly, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a joint statement issued today, leaders from the Kogi Central Elites Forum (KCEF) declared that the Senator’s actions had brought “international embarrassment” to the district and called for her return to learn more effective representation.
The group, led by the President and Secretary, Alh. Ibrahim Abdulazeez Ibrahim and Prince Akerejola Johnson, respectively, rejected accusations that the recall process was not supported by the majority of the electorate. They firmly stated that no external party was involved in organizing the recall and emphasized the unity of their people on this cause.

Addressing recent claims from the Senator’s camp, they said: “No one is sponsoring this recall. We are united in this effort. We cannot be deceived.” The statement also dismissed allegations that the recall exercise was manipulated, adding that the constituents are focused on restoring integrity to the region and Nigeria.
On the controversial incident in the Senate that led to the recall effort, the Kogi Central leaders expressed disappointment in Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions, including her refusal to adhere to Senate rules. They questioned her conduct, especially in light of the national scandal regarding sexual harassment allegations involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The indigenes stressed that the Senator’s behavior, which they described as “juvenile tendencies,” had become a source of shame for their people.

The Kogi Central leaders further clarified that the process of recall is moving forward, regardless of statements by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), explaining that INEC’s involvement would only come after the required signatures are gathered.
“We are determined to bring Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan back home,” the statement concluded. “While she is at home, she may learn the rudiments of representing her constituents better.”
For now, the people of Kogi Central remain united in their decision to hold the Senator accountable and restore dignity to their representation in the National Assembly.
