Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Umar J.G Mohammed has approved the deployment of 3,500 personnel across various strategic locations in the state.
He revealed that the deployment is in a bid to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors during the Eid-El-Fitr celebration, noting that special attention will be placed on areas marked as black spots, and places known for frequent criminal activities in the State.
In a statement issued in Ilorin on Monday evening (the 8th of April, 2024) by the Spokesperson of the Command- ASC AYOOLA MICHAEL, the Commandant further maintained that the personnels have been assigned the critical duties of preserving peace, averting disturbances, and swiftly addressing any security issues that may emerge before, during, and after the Sallah festivities.
He also instructed Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Heads of tactical units to enforce stringent security measures, over all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure within their jurisdiction.
“The corps is fully prepared to confront individuals with malicious intentions to disrupt peace and undermine law and order. Additionally, he instructed Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Heads of tactical units to enforce stringent security measures and maintain continuous vigilance over all Critical National Assets And Infrastructure within their jurisdiction.
While congratulating Muslim faithfuls in the state on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Commandant Umar encouraged residents to cooperate with the corps and report any suspicious activities in their communities” the statement added.
