A 57 year old woman named Mrs Jamiu Sikirat of Ile-Agunko compound Adeta area Ilorin, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, fell into a domestic well and was recovered dead by the Kwara Fire Service at Ile-Onikoko Compound Adeta area Ilorin.

A statement by the Service’s spokesman, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle said the terrible incident occurred at about 6:42pm on Monday and the Brigade was summoned through an exchange Telephone call by One Mr Muhammad Jamiu Living in that neighbourhood.

However, Firemen were able to recover the dead body from the well and later handed it over to one Alfa Abdulganiyu Akuko, a family member of the deceased, in the presence of the Nigerian Police Officers, Adewole Division Ilorin.

Diamond FM news gathered that one of the legs of the victim, during the process of fetching, suddenly slipped off the ground and eventually tumbled down into the well when she went to fetch water at the well.

To this end, the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed his sadness over the incident and urged the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities.

He also charged parents to desist from sending underaged children to fetch water in domestic well.
