
The Kwara state House of Assembly has called for the introduction of Agricultural Science into School Curriculum as a compulsory Subject from primary school level in Kwara state to enhance food products in the state.
The call was sequel to the Motion of Notice on the “Need to Incorporate Agricultural Science into School Curriculum as a Compulsory Subject from Primary School Level in the State” by the lawmaker representing Omupo Constituency, Salahu Folabi Ganiyu.
While leading other members of the House on a debate on a Motion on Notice Salahu explained that agriculture is very essential for the country’s economy, noting that the subject would allow both theory and practical to pupils and students at the younger ages.
The Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danlad-Salihu in his resolution urged Governor Abdulrasaq to direct Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development and the Universal Basic Education Board to re-integrate Agricultural Science in the academic curriculum and make it compulsory subject across the schools.
