Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led State Executive Council has approved the upgrade of the General Hospital Ilorin (GHI) to Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH).
The council said the upgrade is needed to support the training of medical students and related professionals by the Kwara State University, Malete.
The Kwara State Commissioner for health Dr. AMINA AHMED EL-IMAM made the disclosure today at a Press Briefing, held at the Press Center, Kwara State Government House, Ilorin the Kwara State Capital.
According to the Commissioner, the council has approved the sum of nine hundred and six million seven hundred thousand naira (N906.7million) to push through the historic transition.
“The exco today (Wednesday) approved the conversion of the general hospital to Kwara State University Teaching Hospital to offer potential standard health care to the people,” said Dr. El-Imam.
She said the council approved for the government to present a bill on ‘establishment of the Kwara State Teaching Hospital and related matters’ to the House of Assembly.
