The Kwara State Government has assured the people of Offa of speedy completion of the expansion and rehabilitation of 2.4 kilometers, Owode-Popo Road Project.
The state government gave the assurance today when the Commissioner for Works, Hon. ABDULQUAWIY OLODODO made an on the spot assessment of the project with a first stop at the OLOFA of Offa’s Palace- His Royal Majesty MUFUTAU GBADAMOSI ESUWOYE the second.
Hon. OLODODO while appealing for cooperation of the residents in Offa, most especially owners of structures by the road, maintained that the project will be executed within the period of four months.
“The length of the word we are looking at is about 2.3 or 2.4 kilometer there about and then we are looking at four months to complete this project, its also one of the reason we are here to let the people know we need their support, we need their collaboration and we want them to see that they help our contractors to keep within the time limit for this project”, he said.
“Well, the road will be coming with drainage, we will be rebuilding the drainage on this road that i have mentioned. What is currently there at least are to deploy drainage and now we will be reconstructing it to a rain force concrete drainage and then it will come with walkway, solar streetlight and a new pavement”, he added.
In his reaction, the OLOFA of Offa, appreciated Governor ABDULRAHMAN ABDULRAZAQ led government for his developmental strides and most importantly not leaving-out the good people of Offa in his plans, assuring that his Chiefs will interface with owners of structures by the said roads to see the road expansion as a blessing for Offa.
He stated that, “We will really appreciate you, we appreciate his Excellency, we thank his Excellency for being with us always he has always said that Offa is his second home and he has even show us because this kind of work we wants to do, will not hurt the whole sixteen local government and I know of other budget again in front, so we are always in support of his good work may God Almighty Allah support him”.
The National Vice Chairman Offa Descendants Union- Alhaji. Tajudeen BELLO, on his part described the project as a laudable project and appealed to residents in the area to support the efforts of government by moving away from the setbacks for the smooth expansion of the road.
