Kwara State Government has inaugurated a Climate Change Club in Public schools within the state, in a bid to introduce students to the campaign against Climate Change and sensitization of the populace on the dangers of deforestation.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Mallam Shehu Ndanusa Usman disclosed this during the launching of the Climate Change Club at Government High School, Adeta, Ilorin.
The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of Governor Abdulrazak’s administration in empowering the Ministry of Environment and its Agencies in strengthening enforcement and compliance with the existing laws prohibiting illegal logging and sanctioning of environmental violators.
In his remarks, the Principal of Government High School, Adeta, commended the initiative of Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq for believing in the youth and involving them in the running of government.
The launching was attended by the members of the Kwara State Interministerial Committee on Climate
Change which cuts across the Ministries, Environmental health professionals and NGOs.
