Kwara Labour Protests Peacefully, Appeals for Reversal of Anti-Masses Policies

The Kwara Chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress, N-L-C, today held a peaceful protest in line with the directive of the national body of the Congress.

Speaking exclusively with Diamond FM News crew this afternoon, the State Chairman, Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka said the protest which took off at the Labour House ended at the Governor’s Office, where their demands were tabled in black and white to the state Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Elder Kayode Alabi for onward transmission to President Tinubu.

He said their demands, which are in line with that of the national leadership include fixing of the local refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna, immediate reversal of all anti-poor policies of the government including the recent hike in petrol price, school fees and value-added tax, as well as the immediate implementation of resolutions with the Congress jointly signed with Government and T-U-C.

The State Labour Chairman directed workers in the state to resume work, exercise patience and listen to the directive of the national leaders not to foment trouble.
