Hon Lukman Garba Olayinka, All Progressives Congress, APC, Chairmanship candidate for Ilorin East Local Government Area, Kwara State has promised to find a lasting solution to insecurity and food crisis affecting the people if elected..

Olayinka made the assurance while featuring as a guest on Diamond FM, Ilorin, Kwara popular Yoruba Language News and Current Affairs programme “E ba wa da si” on Tuesday, 27th August 2024. 

According to Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission, KWSIEC, five political parties are participating in the local government poll. 

They include the  Accord Party, AP,, Allied People’s Movement, APM, the Social Democratic Party, SDP, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Olayinka maintained that his administration will focus on finding a lasting solution to the insecurity in the council especially the incessant crisis between farmers and herders.

“We will employ vigilantes that will be doing shift for 24 hours, and some of them will be securing our farmlands”.

“That is the essence of security votes, we might not have capacity to employ police officers but the security votes will be used to provide security for our people”.

He furthered that agricultural sector is part of his administration agenda for the people of Ilorin East Local Government.

“People know me as a farmer, we will acquire lands for the purpose of farming, that was the reason I mentioned security as part of my plan, those vigilantes will secure the acquired lands for farming”. 

“I will also focus on the health centers in the local government, people have abandoned the primary health centers in the local government and they are visiting general hospital”.

“We will ensure that we employ enough medical personnel to attend to our people and also equip those centers to make it comfortable for our nurses to stay”. 

Olayinka added that the achievement of Governor Abdulraman Abdulrasaq administration in the state will prompt people to vote en-mass for the Party.

“I was part of Saraki’s PDP rule in the state, there is no ward that this present administration is not having an ongoing project”.

“The Governor is a silent achiever, he has done better in six years than the 16 years of the PDP in the State”. 

“The Governor has performed and his achievements in office will make people to vote for us”. 

While reacting to question about accountability and transparency at the council.

Olayinka emphasized that he will give the people proper reports about monthly allocation from the Federal Government.

Mahmud Rasheed “Bube”, APC Ilorin East Local Government election campaign organization Spokesperson maintained that the opposition parties are dead in the state. 

“The opposition parties are not existing in Kwara State, they are just looking for something to say about this administration”. 

“We have toured all the wards in Ilorin East Local Area, we spoke to our people, we know what they need and we will deliver them.
