
The Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Umar Mohammed, has ordered the deployment of 3,300 personnel across various locations in the state.
According to him, the deployment was essential to pre-empt any potential disruptions of law and order before, during, and after the Easter celebrations.
In a statement signed and released to DiamondFM on Wednesday, 27th of March, 2024 by the Command’s Public Relations Officer- AYOOLA MICHAEL, the Commandant stated that officers were drawn from various specialized units within the corps, including the Armed Squad, Anti-Vandal Monitoring Unit, Special Female Squad, Intelligence Department, Agro Rangers, and the Counter Terrorism Unit, all geared towards ensuring adequate protection of lives and property of law-abiding citizens in the state.
He charged them to take resolute and decisive action against individuals with criminal intentions who are bent on vandalizing critical national assets and government infrastructure during the festivities.
“Commandant Umar reassured residents of the state that the celebration would be smooth and trouble-free, as effective measures have been implemented to ensure a tranquil and safe celebration” the statement added.
He urged members of the public to be law-abiding and continue to support the corps in the fight against crimes while assuring them of the Command’s unwavering commitment to providing security, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding lives and properties, among other responsibilities, in the state.
