The Lagos State Government has reopened the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge to traffic following the completion of repairs on 400 meters of its four expansion joints.
The bridge inbound Alapere, had been partially closed since June 28 to allow construction works. Although originally scheduled for 101 days, the project was completed in 78 days, ahead of the projected timeline.
According to report the repair was carried out in phases. The first four stages, covering the Ogudu–Ifako inbound Alapere section, were completed between June 28 and August 16. The subsequent phases, which focused on the inbound Oworoshoki axis, were concluded in September.
Special Adviser on Infrastructure to the Lagos Governor, Olufemi Daramola, and Commissioner for Transportation, Seun Osiyemi, inspected the site before declaring the bridge open. He explained that the early delivery was made possible by the cooperation of residents, the support of security agencies, and the efficiency of contractors.
