Nigerians citizens have expressed their frustration over the recent increase in the price of cooking gas with the price of a kilogram now selling for as high as 2000 naira. This sudden rise has affected the daily living of many households.
According to the reports from the National Association Of Liquified Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM),the surge in cooking gas prices has little to do with any official adjustment. Rather,it is caused by temporary supply distribution and market exploitation by some operators.
While interviewing MS.Abidemi,a student of Alhikmah university, she stated that, the price hike has affected her studies because of hunger. “many gas stations have closed down where I stay, and it is extremely hard to study on an empty stomach” ,she lamented.
A gas dealer, Mr Abdulwasiu Abdulraheem, also confirmed that, fewer customers are now patronizing due to the high cost of gas.
Citizens are calling on the government and gas operators to find a lasting solution to the rise in gas prices in order to make life easier for everyone.
