Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has charged newly appointed commissioners and special advisers to intensify service delivery, warning that his administration will not tolerate inefficiency as it approaches the end of its eight-year tenure in 2027.
Yahaya gave the charge on Tuesday during the swearing-in of the new appointees at the International Conference Centre, Gombe.
He said the appointments were aimed at strengthening governance, consolidating achievements and accelerating the completion of ongoing projects before the administration leaves office. adding that the administration is now in the final stretch of an eight-year journey which began in May 2019.
He acknowledged challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, two economic recessions, fiscal pressures and security concerns, but said his administration had remained committed to building a prosperous, inclusive and resilient state.
Yahaya urged the appointees to see their appointments as a call to service rather than an opportunity for personal advancement, stressing the need for diligence, sacrifice, sound judgement and measurable results.
The governor directed the commissioners to familiarise themselves with the policies, programmes and projects of their respective ministries and work closely with permanent secretaries and other senior officials to ensure effective coordination and prudent resource management.
