
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended three suspects involved in various criminal activities, including theft, burglary, and fraud.
According to a statement released to journalist on Tuesday, (2nd July 2024) by the Spokesperson of the command- ASC 1 Ayoola Michael, on Monday, 1st of July 2024, detectives from the command’s tracking unit arrested Ibrahim Wasiu, a 31-year-old resident of Eyenkorin, Kwara State.
“The arrest followed a report by Mr. Mumini Kabir regarding several burglaries at his residence, where valuable items including a motorcycle, two Android phones, a home theater system, and other household goods were stolen.
After thorough investigations, the suspect was apprehended, and all the stolen items were successfully recovered” the statement added.
The Spokesperson added that on the 30th of June, 2024, the command’s tracking unit apprehended one Soliu Jimoh (33), for habitual theft of electrical cables and fittings from buildings under construction in Gaa Ajanaki area in Ilorin, leading to the recovery of wires and tools that he uses for his operations.
Mr. Ayoola further disclosed that another suspect named Ganiyu Yusuf Olalekan, (38) was arrested on the 28th of June, 2024 for defrauding Mr. Ibrahim Mustapha of N4.5m.
“The suspect, who falsely portrayed himself as a senior staff of the Ministry of Finance and also claimed to be a politician, deceived Mr Mustapha by promising him three Hajj slots in exchange for the payment.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the suspect is a scammer who deceives unsuspecting members of the public for financial gain”.
Meanwhile, the suspects have reportedly confessed to the crime and will be prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction once the investigation is completed
The NSCDC Kwara State Commandant, Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, has assured the public that the corps will not rest in its quest to combat criminality in the state, emphasizing the corps’s commitment to ensuring a safe environment for law-abiding citizens and terror for criminals.
