
Property worth about four point six million naira (#4.6Million) was in the early hours of today gutted by fire in Ilorin, the kwara state capital.
The sad incident reportedly affected a block of eight shops at number 48, Opposite CAC Church, Basin Road, Ilorin, around six minutes past two in the morning of today (Saturday).
According to a statement released to DiamondFM today and signed by the Spokesperson of Kwara State Fire Service-Mr. Hassan Adekunle, firefighters responded promptly to the distress call which led to the rescue of six (6) out of the eight shops engulfed by fire.
He added that the total estimated property saved is sixty eight point five (#68.5) million naira, with investigations into the incident blaming power surge as the root cause of the fire outbreak.
Meanwhile, the Director Kwara State Fire Service- Prince Falade John after the incident advised the public to diligently switch off their appliances when not in use, emphasizing the importance of preventive measures.
