
A fire outbreak has consumed property worth about nineteen point three (19.3) million naira in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The incident reportedly occured on Tuesday evening at Zion Overcomers, Opposite Duro Suleiman House, University Road, Tanke area, Ilorin

According to a statement released by the Head of Department, Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service- Mr. HASSAN ADEKUNLE, the fire erupted around ten minutes to six, in the (Tuesday) evening, affecting seven (7) shops out of seventeen (17) shops in the building.
“The Fire outbreak which was reported at about 17:50hours Today Tuesday 12th December 2023, was subdued by the firepower of the Fire Crews which did not allow it spread beyond the seat of Fire.The Firefighting operations concluded at 18:11hours, out of the 17shops in the building 7shops affected by burning fire,” he added.
Mr. HASSAN said the spread of the fire was contained in good time due to prompt response of firefighters to the scene of the inferno, leading to the rescue of property estimated at seventy nine point five (79.5) million naira and added that there was no record of casualty while attributing the cause of the outbreak to power surge.
The Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince FALADE JOHN, also urged the general public to always play safe especially during this period of harmattan.
“Please don’t hesitate to call fire brigade on time whenever there is any emergency in their areas, as this would save lives and properties of people in the state.”
