Property estimated to worth the sum of 23.8 million naira was on Saturday lost to an inferno in Ilorin the Kwara State capital.
According to a statement released to DiamondFM by Head of Department, Media and Publicity of the Kwara State Fire Service- Mr. HASSAN ADEKUNLE, the incident took place around 2pm involving a building of about seven (7)flats and two (2) Shops, situated at No. 5, Ado Compound, Ado Street, Alfa Yahaya Area in Ilorin.
The Spokesperson of Kwara Fire Brigade also revealed that the prompt response of fire fighters in the state limited the spread of the fire to three out of the seven flats and two shops in the affected building.
In his words: “Total Estimated property Saved is #47.4Million Naira and Total Estimated property Lost is #23.8Million Naira.”
He however added that preliminary investigation confirms the root cause for the fire outbreak to be power surge.
“The the firemen were able to perform excellently well to minimize the damage, therefore other rooms in the building including many tangible properties were saved from the scathed fire” Hassan added.
On his part, the Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, urged residents in the state to always cultivate the habit of switching off their electrical appliances before the bedtime, so as to prevent the chances of fire outbreaks in their various homes and Offices.
