Retired police officers, their wives and children on Wednesday marched to the National Assembly, demanding an immediate exit from the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
In a video circulating online, the protesters were heard chanting, “President Tinubu, sign our bill,” while calling on the President to address their grievances.
Some of the children joined the demonstration, carrying placards in support of the retirees’ demands. The protesters are seeking a change to the pension arrangement, which has remained a major concern among retired police personnel.
The demonstration came a day after military retirees barricaded the entrance to the Military Pensions Board office in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, over the formula used to adjust their pensions.
The retirees blocked access with canopies and chairs, while armed soldiers prevented them from entering the premises.
