Intense fighting continues in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, and in the western region
of Darfur, where hundreds are said to have been killed in the ongoing clashes.
Witnesses told newsmen that bodies littered the streets of Omdurman city in the
latest escalation of violence between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid
Support Forces (RSF).
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in a statement said about
seven hundred people were killed in the west of the country.
The United States embassy in Khartoum said it was “deeply disturbed by
eyewitness reports of serious human rights abuses by the RSF and affiliated
militias.
Nearly six million people have been forced from their homes since the war began
in mid-April.
