A tragic incident unfolded on the evening of Monday, November 6th, 2023, when a 7-year-old boy named Abdull-Haayi, residing in Yaa-Lateef House on Tinu Street in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State, lost his life after falling into a domestic well.

The heartbreaking event occurred at approximately 5:28 PM, with a concerned resident, Mr. Idowu, alerting the fire brigade via a telephone call.

Promptly responding to the emergency call, firefighters successfully retrieved the young boy’s lifeless body from the well. The body was then handed over to a family member, Mr. Yussuf.

According to reports, the boy had gone to fetch water from the well when tragedy struck. As he was drawing water, one of his legs slipped, causing him to tumble into the well.

Expressing his sorrow over the incident, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, the Director of Kwara State Fire Service, urged the public to exercise caution in their daily activities, particularly when it comes to sending underage children to fetch water from domestic wells.
