Two police officers have been reported shot by unknown gunmen at a security checkpoint on Owerri- Okigwe road in Imo state as well as a civilian in his house early this morning.

According to an eye witness in a viral video released, two uniformed police officers were seen lying helplessly on the ground with another body in a room.

Other eyewitnesses said the gunmen were seen in a vehicle driving roughly while shooting now and then after killing the two police officers at a security checkpoint and also shot a man inside his house. The man was targeted and shot instantly.

The residents dashed for safety while shop owners out of fear were seen closing their shops as no one knew what next would happen and so took cover for the moment until everywhere would be calm.
